Is it real love??

I think this question had probably crossed the minds of millions or maybe even zillions of women around the globe.

From the time when we were little girls, we were told of fairy tales where the prince in shinning armour, appears from nowhere, saves the poor damsel in distress and together they lived happily ever after. THE END.

And that, we were told, was REAL LOVE.

If you are bought into that story, I am sorry, but you are a fucking IDIOT!!

Love is a word that describes a feeling, an intangible one. So what is real and what isn't? And who has the right to judge what's real and what's not. Love can be a meaningless word, used most frequently as an excuse by people who do silliest, non-value added things for it.

OKOK... hold on! If you think something happened to me or my marriage.

HOLD YOUR HORSES RIGHT THERE!

I am doing GREAT!! No... I mean, our marriage is doing us both good.

Over the weekend, we (Mr Hubby & I) attended a session for Marriage Convention 2009. The seminar was entertaining but there wasn't anything new that we have not know of. (Incidentally, we had both read John Gray's book prior to dating each other, so we are quite an *ahem.. 'expert'.)

Nevertheless, the talk served very well as a reminder for us (& many other couples like us) that marriage, unlike love in fairy tales, requires loads of efforts from both parties to upkeep. Attitude is a small word with HUGE impact when it comes to how you treat your spouse. And complacency almost always, is a killer for marriages.

In my opinion, Marriage does not always = Love.

It is more of an union of two individuals who are COMMITTED to give better lives to each other and the family they formed. This stronger than love, that is very much more REAL than real love. This is MARRIAGE!

I asked Mr Hubby if he remembered our wedding vows. He said he did. I wasn't so sure, so I asked, "What was our vows then?" He replied, "I do." And he said that was ALL he ever remembered.

He was correct anyway. He don't have to remember the exact words in our vows, all that matters is - He said "I do." and from that moment, he will do everything within his power and limits to make our lives together a better one.

Marriage Rocks... but only if you believe in it!

Happy Earth Hour

Saturday, 28th March 2009, 8.30pm - ALL lights go off

Laetitia watched curiously as I lit the candles on the dinning table. Moments later she was smiling and chanting away, "Hapi.. Hapi.. Hapi.."

She was probably relating the candles to some birthday parties. This girl is so funny!!

8.30-9.30pm was merely an hour, but without light, an hour seemed so much looongerrr! But Laetitia had fun watching "Fast & Furious" on TV because I can't do very much activity with her in the dark. Our FDW was happy because she don't have to do anything during that hour without light. And I was happy because each time there was a car racing scene on the TV, Laetitia would imitate the sound of cars by going "Vroomm... vroomm.." which sends her saliva flying across the hall. The sight of her doing that just tickles me so much.

Well I was glad the whole family stick by the decision to support Earth Hour.

Childcare Hunting

I had been visiting a number of childcare centres around my vicinity, hoping to find a good one for Laetitia to attend when she turns 18mths in the next 90 days or so.

Now that she is no longer a baby and toddler-hood can be quite a nightmare if we fail to give her proper guidance and discipline. We think it's time to put her in a childcare so that she can have some routine to follow instead of having to shuffle between our home and my PIL's place. And it's getting too confusing for her to have to live in 2 very different households.

So far, I have visited these few:

1) Greenfield Montessori at Hong San Walk

The place is serene and simple, not overly crowded with the right amount of children and teachers. Laetitia seemed to enjoy the place; she was seen helping herself to the toys.

2) Learning Vision at Sunshine Place

A very successful franchise, fully equipped centre with many children and teachers but comes with a hefty price tag.

3) Sheffield Kidsworld at CCK

Too academic focused. Environment is not conducive, classroom's windows are opened all the time with passerby under the HDB void deck, walking outside the class, was just too distracting.

4) Amazing Star Montessori at CCK

Amazingly deserted. There is only 1 pathetic child in the playground who has to combine with the bigger kids from N1 & N2. Totally lack Montessori-feel.

5) Montessori @ Graceland at Phoenix Walk

I called up and the altitude of the receiver was bad enough to totally puts me off! Of course I didn't bother to visit their centre.

I still have to go to a few other centres before deciding which is ideal for my little monster. Oppss... I mean little princess :P

Do you have a childcare centre to recommend us?

Gain and Loses

It took 3, nearly 4 weeks for my new FDW to come work for me. And those days slogging away like an over-worked cow, balancing the household chores, Laetitia and work, not only helped me stay trim during CNY but I had also lost over 1 kg and a half without dieting. This was a breakthrough for me.

My new FDW has finally arrived on 1st Mar, Sunday. She is totally AWESOME!!! She has been a GREAT help to me since. I am so relieved to have her.

But you know what?!?!?

In just a short span of 8 days, I had gained back ALL of those pounds that I shed over sweat and hot tears. And I had a feeling that the needle of my scale is continuing to tip up.

WHAT THE HELL!?

Fuck, maybe someone up there is just super jealous of me!!

A click on his profile shows a proud "collection" of 564 friends! And what's not surprising was that a large fraction of those 564, are, as I have guessed it, GIRLS!

Can someone tell him to wake up his fucking idea!! If he is so desperate to collect more lady friends, then he can try dropping by Lucky Plaza on Sunday. I am sure those friendly Filipino maids are receptive to have people like him as friends than me.

But I was polite enough to reply his message, with one word: "XIAO"!
